38746485Becoming – Michelle Obama
I have not yet finished this book but I can already see that this is a strong book about a even stronger woman and I do feel every one should read it.
2657To kill a mockingbird – Harper Lee
Harper Lee was a very private person and it bothers me not knowing why such a talent writer never wrote more than two book, the second published 55 years after To kill a mockingbird. I never read this book in school but I’m happy I finally did a couple of years ago. It is such a strong book that really makes you think. And to know she took a lot of heat due to the topic of the book and it has stand against time just makes it even better.
17347384Harry Potter – J.K Rowling
A series, loved by young and old in both books and movie form. It is certainly in my opinion one of the most influenced book series of my time. I grew up with HP and it will always have a special place in my heart. Then when you know Rowling’s story and struggles before it’s publish it makes it even better. It is the proof that if you are willing enough, you can make anything happen.
8745Desert flower – Waris Dirie
I read this many years ago. It is such a strong story about a woman grown up in a environment and culture so different from my own. It certainly made me realize how lucky I am just to be born from the mother I have, in the country I did.
1397964I have life: Raped, Stabbed & Left for dead – Marianne Thamm
I read it as a young teenager and it was absolutely horrific. But still strong, inspiring and proof of how strong a woman can be, no mater what. I was in a bad place at the time and this book help me in a way I can not explain. Not for the faint of heart but certainly a book worth reading.

To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

2657| GOODREADS | AMAZON | MY RATING: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥|

Goodreads synopsis: The unforgettable novel of a childhood in a sleepy Southern town and the crisis of conscience that rocked it, To Kill A Mockingbird became both an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was later made into an Academy Award-winning film, also a classic.

Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior – to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature.

My thoughts: This is an hard review to write. Trying not to step on any toes here. I dont really know how I should put my thoughts and feelings in understandably words. This is one of those classic books that “you just have to read before you die”. Well I haven’t read it before and the story intrigued me so why not? However I dont think it made the same impact on me like on the other millions of people. I have grown up with the learning that every human being, no mater skin color or sex, should not be treated different. We should treat all humans and living things, like for an example animals, such as we want our self to be treated by others. That is such an obvious thing for me that it is hard to think that this is not an reality all over the world. I have seen racism and I have friends who have experienced it. And quite frankly it is hard for me to imagine that people have been and still are, that mean, selfish and disgusting.

In that time period when this book was published (1960’s) the story takes on an really important topic that, at the time was highly discussed and Martin Luther King was on the way up. I know the books was banned from several states in the US and that really shows how close minded some people are and I wish to believe that this book did some great things with lifting some of the problems. Today I think it’s more used as an history novel and classic that shows us how it was and still are at some places. To not forget and to learn and understand and not do the same mistakes again. Do you understand what I mean?

To make a point with this review, the book is really great. Not an full five star rating from me because in this day and time, I do not perceives it as any greater than many other books about the similar theme I have read. I like the story, the characters and Lee has done a wonderful work with describing both the story line and surroundings so that me as an reader gets a feeling that I’m really there. I would totally recommend it to anyone who would listen and feel that no mater where in the world you are from, you should read it.

7 More Books. :O

CaptureOh Man! I did it again. I was just gonna order the three books but then I finished the third book about Harry Hole and just needed to order the two next in the series. You know that need you get in your heart and you just have to? Well! Since I ordered from a online store that have a limit to reach before you get free shipment and it was not that much left to reach it I looked at some more books. And Suddenly I am ordering 6 books from that store. And and, I also ordered one more book from Book Depository so in total 7 more books. My god, now I have to stop and no more book shopping for a while.

So beside Nemesis and The Devil’s star by Jo Nesbø, I also ordered To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This is just one of those books I have never read but always thought that I should read. So now I finally bought it.

A Rule Against Murder by Louise Penny. It is the forth book in the series I follow about Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. A really nice fiction crime series that takes place in Canada.

The Treatment by Mo Hayder. The second book about Jack Caffery. A series I absolutely had forgotten about and wanted to continue after I read the first book.

Postmortem by Patricia Cornwell. The first book to an series that I keep running into in different places. I know that years ago I read one of the books in the series but I cant remember which on and it was before the time of Goodreads. I remembered that I liked it so thought that I should give the series a chance with starting with the first book.

The Black Ice by Micheal Connelly. This is also a second book to the series about Harry Bosch that I had forgotten about. I generally like this types of “old” (it is from 93) crime thriller books so before I forget it again I ordered the next book in the series.

So with these 7 books + my three books I ordered earlier, and the 50+ books I have on my kindle, I wont be needing to buy an book for a loong time. But as we all know, need and want is two completly different things.
