36748616| GOODREADS | MY RATING: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥|

Goodreads synopsis: Kit Jernigan despairs of ever fitting in with her new tight-knit K9 unit. They’ve been through too much to open their arms to a stranger―and as mysterious fires begin raging across Monroe, she can’t convince them to trust her long enough to catch the woman she knows is responsible.
Wesley March, local fire spotter, knows Kit is right, and he’s willing to help her prove it. But the more time they spend together, the closer they get…and the more danger they’re in. A member of the K9 unit’s inner circle is determined to get revenge―no matter who gets burned in the process.
This time, it’s personal.

My thoughts:

“I’m In Love!”

I’m in love. I love Wes! He is one of the best characters I have read about in a really long time and Ruggle have finally produced a book with the content and stability of a five star rating. I have not been shy with my thoughts about the Rocky mountain K9 unit series. After the grand slam of Search and Rescue (which I loved) I was expecting the same caliber with also this series. Which we didn’t receive in my opinion. But the fourth and last book just blew my mind and it was a perfect ending for the series and I could not have expected more.

Wes is a character who is super smart but has almost little to no social skills and is really uncomfortable with people due to that he have problems with interpreting them. He reminds me a lot of the character Don Tillman from the series with the same name, written by Graeme Simison except that Wes is not clueless when it comes to love. He just has troubles knowing if his feelings is reciprocated or not. Kit is the perfect female character for him and them together makes the sparkle fly. There is nothing fast in their relationships and they take their time, which makes it even more perfect. I often think the romantic aspect of a book is going forward to fast. I want substance and I certainly got it.

The plot of the story is also great. We have some final unraveling in some stuff and it was a lot of tension which made it even more captivating. I literally could not stop reading. It all mixed together with what I know from the three books before and the excitement for now, made it a reading journey I cannot stop ravaging about. I’m so happy I continued the series even though I was not a huge fan.

I feel a lot more exciting to continuing books written by Ruggle and she has started a new series. Let’s she was she is bringing on. 😀

TBR

To Be Read – May

I had six books on my TBR list for the month of May. Not including the one book from my book club and I’m so excited. I already started Death Note and Hollow City and I have already finished Blindsided. I’m on a roll right now. 😀

Death note: One of the horror, graphic novels I have really looking forward to. I have the black edition 1, which include vol 1 and 2 in one book, and it is beautiful.

Hollow city, the second book in the Miss Peregrine’s peculiar children series. It is time to continue the series since I have this one and the third one on my bookshelf. I have high hopes. I do hope not to high.

The Fiery Cross, the fifth book in the Outlander series. After the fourth book I’m not that excited to continue the series, but will give it a try. Maybe.

Sugar, the 12th book in the Henchmen MC series. I love these guys.

Through the fire, fourth book in the rocky mountain K9 unit. This series has been quite up and down for me, but this is the last one and it is time to close this series.

Blindsided, last book in the Titanium security series. I have wanted to read this one for long time, but never got to it. It is the last book in the series and I was so excited so I started and ended it the first day of May.

What are you planing on reading in the month of May?

Top 5 Exciting 2019 releases

In 2019 there is a lot of sequels expected to be released. Many of these is series I have not read or yet been able to catch up in the order of already released books. But I did find some few I’m excited to read.

34020885The Seduction Expert by Saya Lopez Ortega
Still with no synopsis published on Goodread, I hear a lot of talk about this one. There is 160 ratings and 4.08 in average rating. This is clearly one book I need to read. According to some of the reviews I have read it is a funny, sexy and a great book to get over a book hangover with. Expected publication is May 27th 2019.

40097951.jpgThe Silent patient – Alex Michaelides
This dark thriller, mystery is marked as THE debut novel of 2019. There is a lot of talk about this suspense filled novel about an criminal psychotherapist working with the biggest case of his life. With 518 ratings and an average rating of 4.32 this is a book I do not want to miss. Expected publication is February 5th 2019.

Untitled ACOTAR book – Sarah J Maas.
It was first announced that the fourth book in the A Court of Thorns And Roses series was expected to be published in the late 2019. This has however been changed according to information on Goodreads. But it is still marked as expected to be released in 2019. So I list it anyway, because I can hardly wait for this one.

In her sights – Katie Ruggle.
Even though I wasn’t overly fan of Ruggles latest series and still have one book left to read, I’m excited about the release of this new series. I love her writing and I do hope this new series will be more my taste. Because I absolutely loved the first series she wrote so I know she can. Expected publication is March 26th 2019.

30315692.jpgBeard Necessities – Penny Reid
I have not yet read the fifth book in the series but since I have loved all the others, I can’t imagine that the fifth would for some reason make me not continue the series. This is the six book in the series about the Winston brother and focused on Billy. Finally! 🙂 Expected publication is October 7th 2019.

Survive the night – Katie Ruggle

35023951| GOODREADS | MY RATING: ♥|

Goodreads synopsis: He’s always been a haven:
For the lost. The sick. The injured.
But when a hunted woman takes shelter in his arms, this gentle giant swears he’ll do more than heal her battered spirit―he’ll defend her with his life.

K9 Officer Otto Gunnersen always had a soft spot for anyone in need. As Monroe’s very own Dr. Doolittle, he dedicates himself to rehabilitating the injured souls that cross his path―but for all his big heart, he’s never been in love.

Until he meets Sarah Clifton’s haunted eyes. Until he realizes he’ll do anything to save her.

All Sarah wants is to escape a life caught between ambitious crime families, but there’s no outrunning her past. Her power-mad brother would hunt her to the ends of the earth…but he’d never expect Sarah to fight back. With Otto and the whole of Monroe, Colorado by her side, Sarah’s finally ready to face whatever comes her way.

It’s time to take a stand.

Untitled

My thoughts: I’m so disappointed. I had looked forward to this one and get to know Ottos story for so long. I even saved it to be read when I didn’t work or had other obligations, just so I didn’t have to stop reading. Unfortunately that made it even harder and I was so close to DNF it.

Otto was the most interesting, awkward, lovable and warm character among the guys in the K9 unit and I actually thought this was going to be a great ride. But it was not. It is predictable, excessive and has all the clichés you can imagine. Everything is just so overrated and used up. We are still chewing the same thing over and over again. It was boring and no action or interesting stuff. Just the same thing in different clothes.

Perhaps it would have been great if I was not an avid reader in the Romantic Suspense genre and have read “it all”. But I have loved Ruggles books before and I know she can write a hot and surprising book with deep characters. This one was just not one of those and it makes me sad.

To be honest this whole series has been very up and down. But I will not yet give up. I love Ruggles way of writing and I know she can produce really good books. This was just not one of them in my opinion.

On the chase – Katie Ruggle

34006761.jpg| GOODREADS | AMAZON | MY RATING: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ |

Goodreads synopsis: After witnessing a horrifying crime, Kaylee is forced to flee to a small Colorado mountain town and take on a new identity. There she becomes Grace, a dog kennel worker trying to avoid the dangerously attractive K-9 Officer Hugh Murdoch.

When an accident leaves Hugh and his K-9 partner, Lexi, on desk duty, both are anxious for Hugh to heal. Until then, the highlight of his day is teasing the beautiful but mysterious new kennel employee. Their simmering attraction fuels a passionate kiss—interrupted by a sniper’s bullet. With targets on both of their backs, Grace and Hugh will do whatever it takes to stay alive…not realizing the most dangerous threat of all is hiding right in front of their noses.

Untitled

My thoughts: I’m having a super great start on the new year with an other really good book. This one is about Kaylee who has to run for her life after witnessing something she should not have witnessed. At her new town she meets Hugh. We met him in the first book “Run to ground“. This is an series and you should really read that book first before you read this one.

I really, really liked this. Much better than the first book in my opinion. But then again, I’m a sucker for story’s with strong women’s who have to run for their lifes, are terrified, but still meet that perfect guy, who sweep them of there feets and in the end “Saves” them.

Kaylee is a little of an “Princess” but only on the surface and when you really get to know her, she is an really down to earth person I just love. And Hugh. O my, he is funny, really funny and sweet and just great. You do know that I’m still talking about fictive people here right. Haha. But the characters are great and even if I did not like the first book as much as this one, it was nice to meet all the characters again and get to know them more.

Anyway. The book is great and I can strongly recommend it, but you need to read the first book first. 🙂

Run To Ground – Katie Ruggle

32331591| GOODREADS | AMAZON | MY RATING: ♥ ♥ ♥|

Goodreads synopsis: He lost his mentor.
He lost his K9 partner.
He almost lost his will to live.
But when a ruthless killer targets a woman on the run, Theo and his new K9 companion will do whatever it takes to survive—and save the woman neither can live without.

Grieving the death of his partner, Theo Bosco has no room in his life for distractions. Though his instincts scream that he should avoid Juliet ‘Jules’ Jackson, he can’t seem to stay away. It doesn’t help that Theo’s new K9 companion has fallen head over paws with Jules’s rambunctious family.

Or that when he’s with her, Theo finally knows peace.

When Jules rescued her siblings, whisking them away to the safety of the beautifully rugged Colorado Rockies, she never expected to catch the eye—or the heart—of a cop. Yet as Jules struggles to fight her growing attraction to the brooding K9 officer, another threat lurks much closer to home…

And this time, there’s no escape.

Untitled

My thoughts: I dont know what I expected and had a pretty much of an open mind before I started this book. It is a new series from an author I totally fell in love with earlier last year. I loved that her first series all hang together but still was like stand alones. And even this series is based out in the Colorado mountain. You just get this warm, fuzzy feeling when you read her books. She makes everything come alive and it is like you are there. I can really see the mountains, feel the sun and everything that is around it.

The story however I did not feel for this time. It was no big things really that can give me a concrete reason to why I not liked this book more than a three star rating. It was just a lot of small stuff that made the story not as great as it could have been.

I felt that it was somewhat wordy and repeatedly. The dynamic between Theo and Jules was not as natural as it could have been. And it is pretty irritating that the same words was used to describe his mood and her fright all the time. If you dont have any words left to describe something, you have probably described it to often and it is time to say stop, that is enough. We get it.

I do have to say that I really liked the twist that started up in the end. It was some what predictable but I still liked it because it was a little different from what you first would expect.

There will be more books in the series and even tough this first one not was a top favorite, I still like her books and story’s and I will read more by her. 🙂
